SARAJEVO, February 24 (FENA) - Minister of Transport and Communications of FBiH Denis Lasić told FENA that they were not able to allocate more than 22 million KM for Railways of FBiH in this-year’s FBiH budget.
“We know that is not enough for everything the Railways of FBiH are doing for the economy of the Federation. Regardless of the real needs of this company the ministry has not managed to get more funds,” said Lasić.
He finds that Railways of FBiH “managed to stay on their feet”, adding there is plenty of room for reconstruction and financial assistance.
On the other hand, he emphasized there is a noticeable regular support in the budget for airports in Mostar, Tuzla and Sarajevo and that three million KM has been allocated for the equipment.
There is also an item called capital transfers for road infrastructure in this-year’s budget of FBiH amounting to 153 million KM, which are funds from revenues of public companies.
“That was the procedure we worked on for the entire last year and it was included in this-year’s budget and the funds will be operational,” said Lasić.
He used this opportunity to also reflect on the past four years of his mandate and said a lot has been done.
“I am proud of what has been done in road infrastructure, on Corridor Vc. When we assumed the mandate there were no financial resources, no urban permits and no funds for expropriation. It was an enormous amount of work. There will also be a lot of public calls announced in the next few months for many sections. That way we almost completely covered Corridor Vc financially. It will be a great construction site from south to Svilaja and that is an enormous success,” Lasić told FENA.
