SARAJEVO, February 12 (FENA) - Former Croat Defense Council fighter Ivica Kolobara is wanted by the Bosnian authorities for crimes against humanity and war crimes against the civilian population.
Interpol has issued a ‘red notice’ - the closest mechanism to an international arrest warrant - calling for the arrest of Ivica Kolobara, who is accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes against the civilian population.
However the Bosnian state prosecution did not respond by the time of publication to BIRN’s inquiry about details of the alleged crimes committed by Kolobara.
Kolobara, aged 54, has citizenship of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, according to Interpol’s website.
A man named Ivica Kolobara was mentioned several times in a second-instance verdict of 2011, together with convicted Bosnian Croat fighters Marko Radić, Dragan Šunić, Damir Brekalo and Mirko Vračević.
Radić, Šunjić, Brekalo and Vračević were found guilty, as officers and members of the First Bijelo Polje Battalion of the Croat Defense Council’s Second Brigade, of crimes against humanity against Bosniak civilians in the Mostar area in the period from July 1993 to March 1994.
The crimes included murders, detention, torture, sexual violence and persecution.
