SARAJEVO, February 6 (FENA) - Representatives of associations that gather disabled veterans of war families of martyrs and killed soldiers, recipients of the highest military honors, former members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have given the deadline to the Chairperson of the House of the Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, Lidija Bradara, until 12 February to call for an urgent session of the House and adopt the entity budget and therefore unblock the payment of their benefits.
After today's extraordinary session of the Alliance of War Veterans of the Federation of BiH, representatives of these associations told reporters that, if their demands are not met, they will decide on taking more radical measures at the next session of the Alliance planned to be held in Mostar.
President of the Alliance of War Veterans of FBiH Esad Delić told reporters that everyone is a threatened category of the population in a country that does not pay its obligations and that everyone is at risk, announcing that they would put blockades and not allow the passing of trucks and cars to Sarajevo and other BiH cities, unless a session is held by next Tuesday.
“It is unfair for the political games to be played at our expense,” said Delić and pointed out that this was not what they fought for in the war and gave their parts of body and lives.
The FBiH Minister of Veteran Affairs Salko Bukvarević also gave support to the representatives of these associations, who reminded that the compensation for this population amounts to 315.5 million KM and that they were always paid until the tenth of each month.
He emphasized that the funds have been secured for this purpose, adding that now everything is in the hands of the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH, which needs to adopt a budget, which according to the decisions of the Constitutional Court has the legitimacy to do so in the incumbent convocation.
“It can be done tomorrow if the delegates want it to happen. We believe that they should take responsibility, schedule a session and adopt the budget,” said Bukvarević.
