BIHAĆ, February 5 (FENA) - The Task Force for Coordination of Activities and Monitoring of the Migration Crisis in the Una-Sana Canton (USC), at today's meeting, once again warned of the near fulfillment of the capacities of migrant reception centers in Bihać and Velika Kladuša, and requested immediate and adequate response from the Ministry of Security of BiH.

“The Ministry of Security must take control over the reception centers and appoint a manager. There is surplus of people in the centers Bira and Miral, they are overcrowded and certain number of migrants therefore must be urgently transferred to other reception centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We hope that something will be done on this issue in the next 10 days, because otherwise the task Force will have no option but to close the reception centers,” said the USC Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

They have asked closed cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM, especially with local health institutions and the relocation of all families with children to the reception centers Borići and Sedra, which are envisaged for the accommodation of vulnerable categories of migrants and refugees.

“This cooperation is very much needed, as is communication with our health institutions, especially when it comes to data on the epidemiological situation. So far, we cannot be satisfied with this segment of IOM's activities. We also appeal to citizens not to rent private accommodation to migrants, and to report such cases to the police,” added Ružnić.

Police Commissioner Mujo Koričić spoke about the ongoing security situation, especially when it comes to the area of Bihać.

“Several hundred people were involved in the mass physical confrontation at Bira reception center, and more than 40 were injured. During the past weekend alone, migrants committed 17 criminal offenses which shows us a great deal about the current situation.

The situation is also hampered by misguided citizens who rent accommodation to migrants illegally. From the first day, police officers have been doing their job professionally. They still adhere to the existing measures of the Task Force. However, we need help of competent institutions and citizens’ understanding,” said Koričić.

It was also stressed at today's meeting, that the authorities in Bihać area will try to reach an agreement with local pharmacies, that is, to restrict migrants from purchasing any medicines without doctor's prescription.
