IGMAN, January 27 (FENA) – Thousands of antifascists gathered on Mt. Igman yesterday to mark 77th anniversary of “Igman March”, one of the most important events of 1942, during national-liberation battle in World War II.

President of SABNOR BiH Bakir Nakaš stated that every year 20 000 people come to show that they still respect values established in 1945.

“If it were not for victims from 1941-1945, BiH would not exist in AVNOJ borders, or BiH defined by ZAVNOBiH resolution, and thereby BiH which gained its independence in March 1992,” emphasized Nakaš.

He emphasized that values of antifascist battle are embedded in foundations of BiH and that they should always be in effect and not remain only in history.

He also stressed out that events like these show unity of BiH people “regardless if someone is Serb, Croat or a Bosniak, but it recognizes a person who cares about BiH, its borders and beauties”.

Minister of Veterans’ Issues of Sarajevo Canton Ismir Jusko finds it is important that these events gather great number of people from the region and the entire world.

“This is a promotion of the city, the state and a special day we should all remember,” said Jusko.

Yesterday’s event was organized by the Alliance of Antifascists and Veterans of National-Liberation War – SABNOR of Sarajevo Canton.
