SARAJEVO, January 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić told reporters in Sarajevo today that the incumbent convocation of the CoM is awaiting the appointment of a prime minister designate for the composition of the new Council of Ministers, so that the current members can hand over their duties to the new ministers who are expected to continue to work on the country’s priorities in accordance with all the established strategic documents of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Answering the reporters’ questions on how longer he expects to be Chairman of the Council of Ministers and a member of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH at the same time, Zvizdić called for respect of the regulations and added that he was not in such a situation by his own will. He wished, as he said, for the new Chairman of the Council of Ministers to take office as soon as possible.

“The question we need to ask is when the BiH Presidency will submit the name of the prime minister designate,” added Zvizdić.

Asked about his position on the draft budget and the voting in the House of Representatives, he also urged for the respect of the laws and regulations that define this specific situation.

Zvizdić responded to the questions about the activation of the MAP, stressing that this is not a matter of arbitrary will of any individual or political party.

“The request to adopt the Annual National Plan (ANP), the first annual program of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is based on the Law on Defense, which is still in force, on the decisions that are still in force, the Presidency, as well as the BiH Foreign Policy Strategy adopted 7 or 8 months ago which specified that the key pillars of BiH foreign policy are European and NATO integration.

That is why the agenda of the session of the Council of Ministers contained the adoption of the ANP, and yesterday, as you know, we have prolonged this decision for some of the future sessions. Whether and when it gets adopted, in what form and by which institution, it is still left to be seen,” stressed Zvizdić.

The EU and NATO integration paths of each state have separate procedures, but they are completely intertwined, emphasized the Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

This is a matter of joint action because the policies of the European Union and NATO are practically identical.

Zvizdić recalls that all EU members are not also NATO members, but that the prevailing number of them is.

Zvizdić expects that by the end of January, Bosnia and Herzegovina becomes ready to submit the responses to the additional from the Questionnaire to Brussels, provided there would be no further blockades.

“According to the existing decisions and laws, there should not be obstacles to the adoption of the ANP, which would open the way for the appointment of a PM designate for the composition of the new convocation of the Council of Ministers. The new ANP is adopted each year, so this means it is not direct NATO membership, this is just the beginning of the MAP activation,” said Zvizdić.

Zvizdić stressed that he is committed to cooperation of BiH with its neighbors, but not as some would prefer it to be an ethnicity-based cooperation, but the one between independent states.

He again reminded of his initiative for Croatia to ratify, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia to sign a border treaty. That would put an end to all future intents, talks about secessionism, new divisions, hegemonic projects, etc.
