SARAJEVO, January 15 (FENA) - A delegation of European External Action Service, the diplomatic service of the European Union (EEAS), headed by Head of the Department for Europe, Kathleen Verstreken, paid a visit today to the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On behalf of Minister of Defense of BiH, the EU Delegation was received by Assistant Minister for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović who discussed with his guests the strategic review of the EUFOR ALTHEA Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Šajinović welcomed the members of the delegation of EU experts for foreign affairs, and thanked for the support provided by EUFOR in BiH to the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces in the field of training, building and developing the capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH.
The cooperation with the EUFOR in BiH was also discussed, with a special emphasis on the collective training that EUFOR is implementing in cooperation with the AF BiH, the process of destruction of surplus weapons and ammunition, demining, preparation and participation of members of the AF of BiH for collective security operations.
The guests from the European Union were particularly interested in key areas where the MoD and the AF BiH are cooperating with EUFOR mission in BiH, and in which areas the EUFOR Mission could do more in terms of additional support to the Armed Forces of BiH in the process of solving surplus weapons and ammunition, demining and improvement of the security environment in BiH, stated the Public Relations Office of BiH Ministry of Defense.
