SARAJEVO, January 13 (FENA) - Fascism has not been defeated, it is now stronger than ever, but sooner or later, fascists will be held accountable, said lawyer Duško Tomić in his address as a keynote speaker at the regular session of the Association of Independent Intellectuals - Circle 99 on the topic, "Fascism all around us".

He recalled that he had faced fascism in a process initiated against him by the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Međaši in 1991, but on 30 December 2018, that process against him continued when he was convicted by fascism and by the people he belongs to.

"That day, we had set up a facility for the work of the children's court on the topic "Ana Frank's lawsuit against fascism". The facility was equipped with tables and chairs where we trained for the mock trial, but our intent was cut short by fascism which in fact condemned our attempt to condemn it," Tomić explained.

Everything was burnt down, he added, but as we waited for the firefighters, it took them half an hour to get there, and then they laid their equipment for another 20 minutes, and when they began finally putting out the fire, there was no water in the tanks.

"All of that gives me even more strength to raise my voice because fascism is present here perhaps even more than before. Fascists do not respect the decisions of European courts, constitutional courts, they respect nothing but force, which is why it is high time to shout for help from Europe, the same Europe that celebrates May 9 as the Day of Victory over Fascism," he said.

He expressed a belief that the "idea of the left - the social justice", as he called it, would win, but only when fake social democrats and socialists become history.

He emphasized that fascism is present in every country of the world, "but fascism has taken so many victims in this region, thousands of lives in the last war, and today it is taking the life out of this country takes, but it is doing it a bit more subtly."

He also referred to the case of the "Justice for David" movement, saying that the behavior towards the members of this group has had elements of fascism, and expressed regret over the fact that the lawyer team set up for this case has broken down, but Tomić explains that many people did everything they could for that to happen precisely.
