MOSTAR, January 7 (FENA) - President of the Croat People’s Council in BiH Dragan Čović announced on Monday an appeal to the Constitutional Court of BiH over the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC BiH) regarding the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament.
“The CEC’s decision is not in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, and the Croat People’s Council wants to emphasize this because the election law has partly been put out of force, and we are of the opinion that the election law can be exclusively changed by the legislator,” said Čović after today's session of the Presidency of the CPC.
In his words, the aim of HDZ BiH, including CPC BiH, is to ensure legitimate political representation.
“That can only be done by experts and representatives bodies such as the House of Peoples and not the CEC,” said Čović.
Commenting on the establishment of the Sarajevo Canton Government, he said: "We are not in a position to object to anything, because we do not have a legitimate representative who can do it, which shows the absurdity of the whole system”.
“We only ask for BiH to function as a normal state in accordance with Annex 4, where the legitimacy of representation must be ensured, as it has been explained by the Constitutional Court of BiH.
To that regard, I have no doubts on whether somebody would represent themselves in public as a Croat, while their name implies that they are sending some other kind of message” explained Čović.
“We will, therefore, encourage, first of all, Bosniaks in Sarajevo and Bosniak parties to understand that what they are doing does not bring anyone any good, but that it is continuation of ethnic cleansing by other means,” Čović said.
When it comes to forming of authorities at all levels, Čović noted that he sees no reason for the government not to be formed in all the cantons where HDZ BiH has he majority, and this should happen by the end of January.
Čović also says that he considers the current political situation in BiH to be fairly stable.
