SARAJEVO, December 30 (FENA) – Civil Protection Administration of FBiH (FUCZ) implemented many tasks in 2018, firstly in rescue and protection, prevention, and there were many activities related to training of our members, Director of FUCZ Fahrudin Solak told FENA, summarizing activities of the Administration in 2018.

He especially noted demining activities, stating that members of FUCZ implemented and completed 15 tasks and that they will complete the rest at the beginning of next year.
“We can say we fulfilled the plan for this year, which is around a million square meters of cleared area and around two million more of MSP (mine-suspected surface), so we cleared around more than three million of square meters this year,” said Solak.
Members of FUCZ also regularly participated in all other activities of rescue and protection, search for missing persons, activities under water and search for mine-explosive ordnance.
He added they have worked with colleagues from Czech Republic, their special unit, and they trained members of FUCZ with them and then started performing these activities on their own as of last year.
Members of FUCZ work with different institutions on all levels of government and Solak noted good cooperation with Ministry of Security of BiH, Ministry of Defense of BiH, Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, etc.
Speaking about plans for next year he said their priority in 2019 will definitely be demining.
“I hope we will have more tasks of ‘Land Release’. We are working closely with our colleagues from BHMAC. We are in the final stage of signing an agreement on implementation of projects in area of demining with the European Commission. Our goal is to clear BiH from landmines,” emphasized Solak.
