SARAJEVO, December 18 (FENA) – Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Bruce G. Berton visited today Center for Education of Judges and Prosecutors in FBiH (CEST FBiH) in Sarajevo, where he met with Director of the Center Arben Murtezić.
They talked about further program cooperation and improvement of training of judges and prosecutors in BiH in 2019, with emphasis on strengthening of judicial capacity, that is, more efficient fight against all forms of crime, including fight against corruption, organized crime, human trafficking, etc.
Ambassador Berton emphasized after the meeting that this first visit was also an opportunity to exchange views on Report on Fight against Corruption, which the OSCE Mission announced in February this year.
He added that the OSCE Mission will continue supporting CEST FBiH, underlining that it is an ongoing partnership dating since this center was established in 2003.
Ambassador Berton pointed to extraordinary importance of this institution towards enhancement of overall judicial capacity in BiH, with emphasis on improving knowledge and skills of judges and prosecutors.
Director of CEST FBiH Arben Murtezić stated that determined priorities also reflect on the training program and activities of CEST and that it takes into consideration the OSCE's Anti-Corruption Report.
He added that even with the limited budget CEST manages to secure quality service towards improving skills of judicial workers, engaged in specific cases with participation of local and international experts.
Murtezić thanked the OSCE Mission and emphasized importance that reports, analyses and trainings organized and supported by OSCE have in context of further strengthening of judiciary in BiH.
