New houses for 11 families that lost their homes in floods and landslides

FENA Press release

KALESIJA, December 12 (FENA) - Thanks to the funds provided by the Municipality of Kalesija for the purchase of land in the Memići local community, eleven families whose houses were destroyed during floods and landslides in 2014 and 2018, will get new roof over their heads.

The houses will be built with donor funds, which will be allocated through the UNDP.

“The municipality donated the land worth around 20,000 KM. We found a donor and we will build 11 houses and accommodate 11 families who from 2014 to this day have either been underprivileged or have managed for housing all on their own,” said Sead Džafić, Kalesija municipal mayor.

Apart from the fact that the Municipality in its budget has secured funds for purchase of land for its most vulnerable residents, it will also finance the issuance of urban and building permits, as well as all necessary utilities connections for the homes of these families.

The houses will be built according to European construction standards. It is estimated that the entire project, including budget and donor funds, will be worth 350,000 KM.
