FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 29 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović welcomed today the European Parliament’s decision to adopt an amendment to the Serbia Progress Report, which expressed regret over the repeated denial of genocide in Srebrenica by some Serbian officials.

“I welcome the decision of the European Parliament to adopt an amendment to the Serbian Progress Report, expressing regret over the repeated denial of genocide in Srebrenica by some Serbian officials, and reminded that full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Mechanism that succeeded it means full acceptance and application of its judgments and decisions," said Džaferović in a statement on the occasion, the BiH Presidency announced.

At the same time, he stresses that it is a significant message that the amendment emphasized that recognizing the genocide in Srebrenica is a fundamental step on Serbia's path to joining the European Union.

“Full recognition of the final judgments of international courts and dealing with the truth about the events during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, abandoning the practice of denial of established facts, and glorification of the genocide and other crimes are the basic precondition for reinstating and building trust in the region, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina itself,” stressed Džaferović.
