Regional Energy Forum opens in Tuzla

FENA

TUZLA, November 22 (FENA) - Regional Energy Forum, 4th edition, which gathered numerous experts from the entire region, is being held in Tuzla.

Participants of the forum will tackle two very important topics, Energy Transition: Opportunities and Challenges, and Integration of Renewable Energy Sources, related to process of energy transition, which will inevitably take place in area of BiH as well.

Transition process encourages use of renewable energy sources which all countries of the region must work on together, because it is not possible to implement project of use of renewable energy sources only in area of one country.

"We are looking at energy independence of BiH, increasing participation of renewable sources in overall amount of energy and projects of energy efficiency, which will contribute to a more rational use of energy, economy and ecology. BiH will not accept the Energy Community discussing other two issues without considering the one related to energy independence of BiH," emphasized Director General of Elektroprivreda BiH Bajazit Jašarević.

He said that new technology is planned in building of block 7 TE "Tuzla“, and this project is currently under consideration in the State Aid Agency of BiH.

BiH also has a commitment to implement decarbonization of energy sector, because it signed an agreement on Energy Community.

"We have a commitment to start building an integrated energy and climate plan of BiH for the period of 2021-2030, which will define direction of development of energy sector. As signatory of all agreements, our country has the commitment to raise standards," said Assistant Minister of Energy in Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Admir Softić.

Balkan is experiencing deficit of electric energy and it holds the highest price in area of the entire Europe, said Dejan Stojčevski, Technical Director of Serbian Power Exchange.

Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism of the Republic of Austria is supporting the organization of this-year's series of REF within project "Western Balkans Energy Transition Dialogue – WeBET“, implemented in BiH by Association for Development NERDA Tuzla.
