SARAJEVO, November 20 (FENA) - I will perform my duty in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the BiH Constitution and I do not intend to do any damage to anyone, said the first Chairman of the BiH Presidency in the new convocation, Milorad Dodik after taking a solemn oath today at the Presidency building in Sarajevo.
At today's inauguration of the tripartite Presidency, he noted that his home base was Republika Srpska from which he was elected, but announced that he would work with the other two members of the state presidency to preserve the fundamental principles of the BiH Constitution.
"I do not want to do any harm or anything that would prevent any Bosniak or Croat or any organizational unit in the Federation of BiH or the Federation of BiH itself to work on development projects. I want us to show cooperation that can be effective" he underlined.
He recalled that BiH has long since departed from the time when the people were at war, and believes that this is an opportunity to create a democratic society that could exist guided by politically elected representatives of the peoples in democratic elections.
Nevertheless, he says there are numerous complaints about the work of the international community in BiH, primarily the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in BiH, which, Dodik argues, has diminished the BiH Constitution and the political system, and therefore considers it necessary to renegotiate some decisions and make new compromises.
"The solutions made 15 or 20 years ago may have corresponded to that time, but the solutions that we must adopt today must correspond to this day and age. I will urge for the abolition of the Office of the High Representative in BiH as soon as possible," Dodik announced in his address before numerous domestic and foreign officials.
He stressed that membership in the European Union should be the goal, which is why at the very first next session he said he would ask that the EU and its structures award a candidate status to BiH as soon as possible in order to create a new dynamic in BiH and thus support BiH potentials.
He announced that he would do everything to ensure that BiH's relations with the European Union were good, as well as with the United States, but also Russia and China, and other countries in the world, but would not allow for decisions to be imposed to his cabinet.
Dodik said he would also advocate for the departure of foreign judges from the Constitutional Court of BiH, assessing that the judicial authorities must be returned to the peoples of BiH, noting that the OHR's judiciary reform was previously unsuccessful and has brought corruption, as well as the lack of functionality and the alienated system of power.
"If BiH does not show a new dimension and momentum, I do not see my place in the Presidency of BiH. I want to make an agreement here with full respect for the two entities, the three peoples, the institutions of BiH and all citizens," concluded Dodik in his first public address after taking over the position of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency.
