BIHAĆ, November 15 (FENA) - Team Leader for Western Balkans from the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) Cristina Martinez Gallego and European Integration Policy Coordinator from the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) Alberto Cammarata visited today all accommodation capacities for migrants and refugees in the Una-Sana Canton (USC), and got informed about the current situation in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina at today's meeting with the members of the Operational Group for dealing with the situation with migrants and refugees.

“Representatives of the European Commission have been thoroughly informed about the latest situation, i.e. accommodation capacities in USC, the humanitarian and health aspects of the crisis, the security aspect, but also our predictions on how the situation might develop in the coming days.

We also warned them about the financial segment and suggested certain solutions. They will report all the conclusions to their headquarters in Brussels, so that we can expect very soon a visit of top officials,” said Minister of Health of the USC and member of the Operational Group Hazim Kapić.

He also added that they informed the representatives of the European Commission about the decision that the USC Operational Group when it comes to the situation with migrants will not regress from previously made conclusions, especially when it comes to preventing inflow of new numbers of migrants and refugees due to the overloading of all accommodation facilities in the areas of Bihać and Velika Kladuša.

He said that the Operational Group still does not have any information about the status of migrants and refugees, who are currently residing in a temporary shelter at the center "Miral" in Velika Kladuša.

“Although today the last day of the deadline for finding an accommodation solution for them, no one from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has informed us whether these people are going to stay at that location, whether they are moving to another location in Velika Kladuša, or they will be relocated to 'Ušivak' in Hadžići,” stressed Kapić.

According to the members of the Operational Group, representatives of the European Commission, at today's meeting in the Una-Sana Canton Government, announced an upcoming thematic meeting of representatives of all levels of government in BiH and international organizations, which should be held in Banja Luka.
