EAST SARAJEVO, November 12 (FENA) - Delegations of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by party leaders Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović, met today in East Sarajevo to discuss the formation of governments at all levels after the general elections.

As the parties’ presidents said, they were more than satisfied with the results achieved since both parties won more votes than in earlier electoral cycles, and announced that they would work together to form governments from the cantonal to the state level.

They noted that this was one in a series of meetings, but also emphasized that everything they have agreed on today would not be to the detriment of the third people, and “called on legitimate representatives of the Bosniak people to take part in the government and work toward solving the accumulated problems.”

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik believes that political representatives must take responsibility for the processes in the country and work to establish a successful BiH. He once again advocated for the abolition of the High Representative's Office in BiH, expressing a series of condemnations against the international community and saying that BiH has been under foreign patronage for far too long.

Dodik underlined that he would advocate for BiH to obtain a candidate status for membership in the European Union as soon as possible, but also towards strengthening BiH's sovereignty.

He emphasized the need to amend the Election Law whose shortcomings in this last election cycle have shown themselves in full light, noting that he would coordinate all the activities towards progress at all levels in BiH, but in accordance with the Constitution and constitutional order of BiH, with two entities and three constituent peoples.

Dodik said they are ready to form the government in Republika Srpska by the end of this month, but when it comes to the Federation of BiH, SNSD leader announced that he would not allow the constituting of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament until the Serb Caucus is fully filled.

"This is not an ultimatum but a constitutional obligation," said Dodik and added that, at today's meeting, the two of them discussed “how to secure the constitutionality of the Serb people in those cantons, where this constitutional provision has been implemented so far.”

HDZ President Dragan Čović said that it is important to establish good cooperation among the political parties that can ensure a stable majority, saying that at the state level in the past two years there has been a delay due to the lack of a stable parliamentary majority.

He added that there is a clear consensus on BiH's path to the European Union, but he also underlined that the key issue is to resolve the issue of amending the Election Law so that “we would never again be in a situation in which one people elects other people’s political representatives.”

He noted that HDZ BiH has achieved the best election result in the past 20 years, “but regardless of this fact, we do not have a Croat member in the BiH Presidency, but this is a reality that needs to be analyzed because such election is unlawful, unconstitutional and illegitimate."

Asked by journalists whether they would discuss the formation of the government with SDA, Čović said that they have already talked with the leaders of SDA and SBB, Izetbegovic and Radončuć, and that the talks would continue with the goal of forming a stable parliamentary majority.
