MOSTAR, November 8 (FENA) - The agreement on the construction of a motorway section on the 5C Corridor, Donja Gračanica (Zenica North) - Zenica tunnel was signed today at the headquarters of the public enterprise the FBiH Motorways in Mostar.
The agreement was signed by Director of the FBiH Motorways Adnan Terzić and Director of Cengiz insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Turkey) Evren Utku Gök, on behalf of the contractor, and the FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Denis Lasić.
The value of the agreement for the construction of the section Donja Gračanica - Zenica North - the Zenica tunnel is 67,360,069 euros with VAT, and the funds are secured under the loan agreement concluded with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and a grant in the amount of 11,03 million euros.
The Donja Gračanica section (Zenica North) - Zenica tunnel connects to the Klopče section - Pecuj tunnel and represents the third lot of the so-called Zenica bypass. The subsection is 4 kilometers long and the deadline for the completion of the works is 30 months.
The construction of this section will be carried out under the ‘design and build’ concept.
Evren Utku Gök, Director of the construction company Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret, addressed the journalists, saying that the company is a holding with over 20,000 employees and construction works implemented across three continents.
“On this project as well, as it was the case earlier with the section of the motorway from Vlakovo to Tarčin, we will employ domestic workers and companies, and the materials and services for the implementation of this project will be obtained from domestic resources, which will contribute to the development of business activities in BiH,” emphasized Utku Gök.
Director of the Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Ian Brown said that the EU secured a little more than 11 million euro from the Fund for the Western Balkans for this section, adding that the best option is to finance it through international financial institutions because of the possibility of obtaining grants.
In addition to this part of the route within the construction of the third lot of the Zenica bypass, the 400-meter long DonjiaGračanica viaduct will be built, the Hum tunnel 400 meters long, two shorter viaducts in the area of the settlement Hece and the Vraca tunnel 300 meters long.
As part of this section, the Zenica North loop will also be built with a toll station, as well as the roads of the so-called "northern connection" to connect the motorweay with Zenica and the main road M-17.
