SARAJEVO, November 7 (FENA) - Commenting on Kosovo's decision to increase customs taxes on all imported products from BiH, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović said today in Sarajevo that Bosnia and Herzegovina may not attend a regular ministerial meeting of CEFTA that will be held in December in Pristina.

“We will also consult with our counterparts and competent authorities in Serbia due to the fact that they have been affected by the same measure,” said Šarović.

He explained that the BiH ministry has not received any information from the competent institutions of Kosovo about the introduction of 10 percent customs duties on products from Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor it has been informed of any previous consultations, which is common in such situations.

“The European Commission has informed us that it has been informed about the decision of the institutions of Kosovo and Commissioner Mogherini has expressed the EC's position on this matter which the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH has supported,” stressed Šarović.

He pointed out that this ca be seen as a major attack on free trade in the region, which undermines the foundations of CEFTA and violates the principles laid down by the World Trade Organization.

Šarović also added that by doing this, Kosovo is isolating itself and is making its position within the CEFTA very questionable, which will certainly be discussed at the upcoming ministerial meeting in December in Pristina.
