FENA Press release

THE HAGUE/SARAJEVO, November 6 (FENA) - Representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo today at the ICMP headquarters in The Hague signed the Joint Missing Persons Framework Plan committing themselves to work together to find and identify the remaining 12,000 missing persons from the conflicts in the Western Balkans.

The Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was made up of members of the Management Board of the Institute Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Amor Mašović, Marko Jurišić and Nikola Perišić.

The signing was also attended by Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Netherlands Mirsada Čolaković.

The signing of the Joint Framework Plan on Missing Persons is a continuation of activities in line with the 5th Berlin Summit on the Western Balkans, held in London in July this year, announced the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in The Netherlands.

On this occasion, heads of states and governments of the Western Balkans, as well as Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Slovenia and Poland signed a joint Declaration committing to strengthening and continuing activities to find 12,000 missing persons in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, as a result of the 1990s conflict.

Under the Plan, the signatories agreed to intensify mutual cooperation, which involves regional data exchange, additional involvement of families of missing persons and strengthening of transparency of the entire process, without further politicization.

Also, it is estimated that this is an important step forward in the further process of reconciliation, good neighborly relations and fulfillment of conditions for EU accession.

The entire process has received great support from the official London, which has today been confirmed in the address of the representatives of the United Kingdom.
