IOM: It is up to the authorities to decide when the migrants will be transferred

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) today announced that they are very concerned about the situation with migrants located on the intersection near the international border crossing Velika Kladuša - Maljevac.

“The IOM actively cooperates with various government institutions to secure appropriate accommodation for these migrants and have already informed them of the accommodation solutions. The decision on the location of the migrants should be made by the relevant authorities. Likewise, the authorities will decide when and how they will transfer migrants from the border crossing,” said the IOM.

They also noted that the IOM mobile teams were involved in attempts to persuade migrants not to stay in the vicinity of the international border, as this is not in accordance with the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Given their current location, the IOM has stated that they cannot provide them with humanitarian assistance, apart from migrants who need medical help and who have been referred to local medical centers.
