BH Journalists-Protest against the behavior of Optima Group towards journalists

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA/SARAJEVO, October 12 (FENA) - The BH Journalists' Association has strongly protested the behavior of representatives of the "Optima Group" in Bosanski Brod towards journalists, the media and the public, following a catastrophic accident that occurred in the Bosanski Brod Oil Refinery.

The management of the company, based in Banja Luka, under which the refinery operates, organized a press conference and invited only certain media outlets which they said “were interested in the management's statements about the aforementioned accident.”

Numerous journalists and the media were not invited to oversee the developments at the refinery even though they have reported on the tragedy since it happened in which one worker was killed and 50 injured, said today the Managing Board of the of BH Journalists’ Association.

The association also reminds that "due to tragic consequences, as well as due to the environmental impact and the fact that the refinery uses natural resources, this is a matter of the first-class public interest, not only in RS but the entire BiH, but also in the neighboring countries, as the citizens have the right to know what the company has done to prevent the accident and what will be the future steps of the management," stated the BH Journalists’ Association..
