SARAJEVO, October 11 (FENA) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment charging the accused Novak Stjepanović with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 142 of the Criminal Code of SFRY.
The Indictment charges the accused that during the imminent threat of war in the territory of Srebrenica and Bratunac, and the ensuing armed conflict between the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) and the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), as a soldier of the VRS – Unit VP-7042, Bratunac, in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and Article 3(1)c) of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949, he participated in the rape of Bosniak civilians.
The Indictment has been served on the accused Novak Stjepanović via mutual legal assistance because his place of residence is outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the BiH Court.
