FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, October 10 (FENA) - President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik spoke on the telephone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who conveyed congratulations from the Russian President Vladimir Putin on his election victory for a member of the BiH Presidency.

Lavrov wished Dodik prompt formation of a parliamentary majority and the RS government, and asked him to convey the congratulations to Željka Cvijanović as well, who takes over the position of the RS president.

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed expectations that “the Presidency of BiH will work in a lawful manner, with the firm respect of the Dayton Agreement, respecting the rights of the entities and the three peoples in BiH,” said Dodik’s office.

Dodik thanked for the congratulations and said that “as a Serb member of the Presidency, I will advocate for the letter of the DPA and respect for the Constitution, as it is written in the documents, without any intent to implement some kind of spirit of the Dayton PA."

Minister Lavrov said that “Russia will continue to support such policies by President Dodik,” it is said in the statement.

Russian Foreign Minister has asked Dodik to convey his condolences to the family of a worker of the Refinery Bosanski Brod who was killed last night in an accident at the refinery, wishing the injured workers a quick recovery.

Minister Lavrov said that he was aware of an investigation into the causes of the accident and that he expects the results to be announced soon.
