SARAJEVO, October 5 (FENA) - President of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, Nermin Nikšić at today's press conference in Sarajevo, urged the authorities to take action as soon as possible so as not to jeopardize the electoral process in Čapljina, Stolac and Mostar, where they still have not appointed members of the polling committees.
“All deadlines have expired for the setup of the committees. It turned out that the electoral process has been compromised and it is quite possible that in certain municipalities and communities the General Elections will not be held at all.
That is why we are urging other political entities that are also aware of this situation, to file criminal charges against people in certain local election committees, as well as with the Central Election Commission of BiH if they do not take any action,” stressed Nikšić.
He reminded that, under Article 150 of the Electoral Law, the denial of the right to vote is sanctioned by a prison sentence of up to three years.
According to the information acquired by SDP, during the election campaigns there were instances of mobbing of the citizens employed both in public and private sector pressuring them that on October 7 they are to take a photo of their ballot upon voting.
That is why some citizens expressed fear that they would lose their job if they do not abide as they were told by their superiors.
Nikšić is convinced that the SDP candidate Denis Bećirović will take the victory in the election race for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency.
“We are at the brink of a great result. Vote for SDP is a vote for all of us,” concluded Nikšić and asked the BiH citizens that, on Sunday, October 7, they do not allow anyone else to decide for them, and that SDP will continue to fight for the protection of the electoral process.
