BELGRADE/SARAJEVO, October 2 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović signed today at a meeting with Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajić in Belgrade a memorandum on concluding the procedures for significant improvement of economic development and cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.
It is a memorandum of mutual cooperation and acceptance of documents issued by accredited laboratories for industrial non-food products, which will further remove barriers, facilitate and intensify mutual trade of the two countries, which could soon reach 2 billion euros annually.
“This essentially means that if an industrial product has a certificate, a document from an accredited laboratory in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that product can freely go to the Serbian market without having to be examined by an accredited laboratory in Serbia and vice versa,” explained Minister Šarović.
Minister Ljajić said that this is yet another step in facilitating trade between the two countries, which grows each year.
“I think that Serbia and BiH could serve as an excellent model for all other countries. Out of 13 barriers, for a period of less than six months, we have eliminated nine of them. For the remaining four, we need additional funds, as well as the expansion and modernization of border crossings,” Minister Ljajić said.
