SARAJEVO, October 1 (FENA) - Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Adil Osmanović and Swiss Ambassador to BiH Andrea Rauber Saxer signed today in Sarajevo a Social Security Agreement between the two countries.

Minister Osmanović said that the signing of this agreement represents a continuation of good cooperation between the two countries and its improvement in the field of social security.

“With this Social Security Agreement and the Administrative Agreement on the Implementation of the Agreement on Social Security we are addressing important issues in our mutual relations, especially in today's globalization processes, which results in greater labor mobility, and in this context, the increased need for coordination of the social security system between our two countries,” said Minister Osmanović.

He noted that by signing and entry into force of this agreement, the Convention on Social Security between the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia and the Swiss Confederation from June 8, 1962 will cease to be valid, based on which BiH citizens living in Switzerland have exercised their rights to date.

“Under this agreement our two countries will regulate pension and disability insurance relations, insurance in the event of accidents at work and occupational diseases, maternity and childcare allowance, and health insurance,” said Minister Osmanović and expressed belief that BiH and Switzerland will continue good and friendly cooperation.

Swiss Ambassador to BiH Andrea Rauber Saxer said that this agreement regulates social security relations on a modern basis and that it primarily regulates issues that are important to citizens moving from one country to another and returning to their own countries.

This is the first step, and for the agreement to enter into force, it needs to be confirmed by the parliaments.

"As far as the Swiss side is concerned, I assure you that this will happen very soon," said Ambassador Saxer.
