SARAJEVO, September 28 (FENA) - As part of the final activities of the EU ProLocal Program, a project for local self-government and economic development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a workshop for small and medium enterprises was held today in the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH at which a manual was presented for the purpose of prevention and protection of small businesses from potential floods.

The manual is divided in three chapters - prevention, response to floods and recovery measures. It contains instructions on what can be the most important, in addition to systemic measures, for the businesses to do in order to protect employees, facilities, equipment, materials, goods and documentation in case of flood disaster.

Jasmin Gabela from the company ‘Enovo’ Sarajevo, representing the manual, said that preventive measures, among other things, require the training of employees in disaster protection.

Among the recommended key employee protection measures are the evacuation plans in companies, the distribution of appropriate protective equipment to all able-bodied individuals, the division of employees into teams, some of whom will be designated for the tasks on the ground and the establishment of contact with the Civil Protection Service.

Jasmin Gabela, during today's workshop, presented a program of action plans development in small and medium enterprises for prevention and protection against floods.

The workshop was organized as part of the activities of the EU ProLocal program in order to maintain a positive trend of economic recovery in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the consequences of the 2014 floods.

EU ProLocal will help small and medium-sized enterprises in the four most dynamic sectors - metalworking, woodworking, agricultural and tourism, in the preparation of action plans for the prevention and protection of floods in the upcoming period.

Some 150 companies, based on the analysis of the conditions in each of them, will define preventive measures and procedures to be carried out during and after a possible flood disaster.
