SARAJEVO, September 10 (FENA) - According to the data of the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH, more than 169,000 people, in the period from June 2013 to June 30 this year, have left our country.

Economic crisis, no prospects, disrespect of basic human rights, political situation in our country have all been listed as the major reasons why entire families, especially young people, leave their homeland.

President of the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH Mirhunisa Zukić at a press conference in Sarajevo said that the Union has launched a campaign to promote and implement individual rural and agro tourism in local communities in order to reduce the departure of BiH citizens.

Through the project "Let’s Make Life Better in BiH Together", funded by the Swiss Government, activities were carried out in Bihać, Lukavac and Čapljina areas, where 46 households with capacities to engage in rural tourism have been included.

“We created the brand 'BH Village' and we have very good results. In the period from June to July this year, we recorded 796 overnight stays with about 2,100 guests in 15 households in the area of these three municipalities. In Bihać (Kulen-Vakuf) there were 1.505 guests, Lukavac 285, and in Čapljina 310 guests,” said Zukić.

She mentioned that they connected future guests and households engaged in rural tourism, and that in the coming period, in cooperation with local authorities, tourism boards and civil society, the campaign will be expanded to other places in BiH such as Travnik, Foča , Ustikolina, Ključ, Goražde, Tšsanj, Ilijaš, and Hadžići.

The goal of the campaign is to connect the authorities, the private sector and civil society, since BiH truly has a lot to offer in this tourism segment, said entrepreneur in the tourism sector and a participant in the project, Edita Tarabar.
