SARAJEVO, September 7 (FENA) - Al Jazeera Balkans media outlet, in cooperation with Al Jazeera Media Network and Al Jazeera Media Institute in Doha, is organizing the first Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival" (AJB DOC), which will be held in Sarajevo from September 21 to 25.
The festival aims to affirm authors and films dealing with social phenomena with a focus on universal human values.
Director of the AJB DOC Film Festival, Edhem Fočo, said that Al Jazeera Balkans has positioned itself as a channel that promotes the documentary form from the very onset of the program broadcasting of this television station.
“I believe that we play a very important role in the region in this segment, since we have produced more than 400 documentaries or episodes, and purchased more than 200 documentaries, of which the largest number was from the region. We translated and adapted for broadcast more than 1,500 films that we received from the Al Jazeera central. All this was done in six and a half years, so the documentary film festival was the next natural step to confirm the dominant role of Al Jazeera Balkans in this field,” said Fočo.
The specificity of the AJB DOC Film Festival is reflected in the fact that documentaries are done according to the world standard for television broadcasting, that is, the duration is up to 52 minutes.
All screenings will be held at Cinema City Multiplex, from September 21 to 25. All information on films and screening details can be found on the website of the festival www.aibdoc.ba.
Tickets for the festival will be available as of September 10 at Cinema City Multiplex in Sarajevo.
