PLOČE, September 5 (FENA) - A delegation of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, today visited the Petroleum Terminals in Ploče, owned by the Federation of BiH.
The aim of the visit was to visit this FBiH enterprise and review the damage caused by a tankship’s crash into the terminal.
The result of the crash, said the President of the Petroleum Terminals of the Federation of BiH (NTF), Džemal Bašić, is that the ships cannot dock to the terminal properly, although the tests showed that the terminal is functional.
“The problem is with the docking procedure at all three slots. We are trying to open a temporary dock for a smaller tanker, which could take about 40 days,” said Bašić.
“The shipping company that is responsible for the accident and the damage will compensate it, but it does not do us any good if it will take a year for it to be operational again,” said Novalić.
Novalić said that FBiH cannot afford to be without this terminal, and that the delegation of the FBiH government, after the visit today, will see what can be done to make it operational as soon as possible.
The docking process at the NTF has not been in operation since August 5, and according to the estimates, in a month and a half or two, the NTF could be able to receive smaller tankers, up to one hundred meters, and large ones, 200 meters longer or bigger will not be able to dock until further notice.
