BIHAĆ, September 3 (FENA) - A visit to Tihotina pit, where sixteen years ago a mass grave was discovered containing fifty-three human remains of inhabitants of Bihać area whowere thrown into the pit, most of them from the towns of Orašac, Kulen Vakuf, villages Klisa, Ćukovi, Golubić and the municipality of Ključ, residents of Ljutočka valley, members of veterans' associations, representatives of the City of Bihać and the authorities of the Una-Sana Canton, remembered the suffering and the killings of the inhabitants of the Ljutočka Valley in June 1992.
After the persecution of all five thousand inhabitants, several hundred of them were detained in the war camps in Račić, Ripač and Drvar.
Sixteen years ago, a mass grave was discovered in the former pit of the bauxite mine "Tihotina" near Bihać, where the killed civilians were thrown, primarily detained in the war camps Račić and Ripač detention camps.
“Fifty-one victims were primarily identified. The youngest victim was 17 years old, and the oldest victim was 55.
All of them were brought to the edge of the pit, created by the exploitation of bauxite ore and they were killed and thrown into the pit.
The perpetrators of this crime believed that the victims would never be found, said Huso Behrem, the brother of the murdered Bahrudin Behrem.
