SARAJEVO, August 29 (FENA) - Chair of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović met with President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas within his official visit to this country.
Izetbegović and Abbas confirmed friendly and bilateral relations between BiH and the State of Palestine. They exchanged views on current situation in the two countries and relations in our region and the Middle East, Presidency of BiH stated.
Chair Izetbegović emphasized that BiH followed recent events in the Gaza Belt with great concern, and that BiH Presidency appealed to termination of violence and restoration of dialogue.
He reminded that BiH supported the resolution of the UN General Assembly, calling for protection of Palestinian civilians.
He emphasized that BiH strongly supports organization of a peace conference, which will bring fair and long-term solution of conflict, based on principles of the international law towards establishment of two independent states.
Izetbegović was welcomed in Ramallah with the highest state and military honors and before his meeting with Abbas he visited the mausoleum to honor the former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
