GRADAČAC, August 29 (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Đapo and Mayor of Gradačac Edis Dervišagić signed the Agreement for Renovation and Protection Project of the Hussein-captain Gradaščević Tower in this historically important building. The project is worth 1.000.000 KM.
Minister Đapo pointed out that this was the first step that paves the way for the future governments of the Tuzla Canton and Federation of BiH to continue supporting and financing the protection and restoration of the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina which represents an extremely important tourist potential.
She added that significant resources can be obtained from European funds through cross-border cooperation projects.
"I am proud that the FBiH Government has recognized the importance of this project, not only for Gradačac and the Tuzla Canton, but for the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well", said Đapo.
Đapo stressed that only a man committed that much to Bosnia and Herzegovina and his hometown of Gradačac could achieve what Husein-captain Gradaščević did, becoming a symbol of Bosnian and Bosniak pride.
"Almost 200 years ago, he was capable to recognize that the strength and future of BiH lie in its diversities. He has built schools and religious sites not only for Muslims, but for his fellow Christians - Catholics and Orthodox. Asked why he builds for Catholics and Orthodox 'so many inns and lodgings in the harsh land of Bosnia,' Husein-bey replied: 'Because they are my brothers by blood, language and history! In Bosnia, church bells have never been in conflict with the voice of imam'", said Minister Đapo.
