SARAJEVO, August 10 (FENA) - Federal Republic of Germany donated 1.900 euros to BiH for marking and registration of weapons of Armed Forces of BiH and the funds will be at disposal this year.
This donation is a continuation of financing within project " The Arms Marking Project", with the implementation period of 2017-2019.
Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Germany to BiH Christian Sedat, who signed the Agreement in Sarajevo today with Alexander Maier, Project Manager of the ''The HALO Trust'' in BiH, said that funds will be used for extensive inventory of military stockpiles and that teams of BiH AF will be trained for these activities.
"Teams will mark small arms and light weapons owned by BiH AF within this project. Those weapons will be integrated in the central registry and will be a part of the national data base. The entire process is monitored by EUFOR," said Sedat.
He added that the marking program will be done in two stages over the period of three years and that the first stage has already been completed.
Maier emphasized the project started in 2017.
"I find this is an example for the entire region. Marking of weapons is the priority, but also increasing security of warehouses," emphasized Maier.
Special Adviser for Ammunition and Weapons of EUFOR Martin Trachsler also commended the project activities, adding that the international community has been supporting efforts of Ministry of Defense of BiH in reducing surplus ammunition and secure storage for five years.
Germany donated 150 000 euros for marking and registration of weapons of BiH AF at the beginning of the project last year.
