BiH Diaspora wants to invest in ITES sector in the country

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 8 (FENA) - The ITES sector, covering all services that are available through information technologies, including IT companies, call centers, customer support centers and accounting, gathers some 1,739 companies and 13,600 employees in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These services have been recognized as a great opportunity for foreign investments, as well as investments from the Diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

That is why the ITES sector is the focus of this year's Reconnect Conference, which will bring together more than 150 participants from the country and the Diaspora.

“About 94.26 percent of companies in the ITES sector are small and medium-sized enterprises, and the fact that two-thirds of the companies in the sector are older than 10 years indicates their stability.

In addition to this analysis, conducted in cooperation with our partner company Bisnode BH, we have decided to include this year a debate on the potentials of this sector in the program of Reconnect Conference that brings together the Bosnian business diaspora. It is extremely important that we initiate this debate,” said a representative of the conference Aiša Telalović.

Asad Karišik from BIT Alliance, Azra Sarić from Mistral Technologies and Senad Šantić from ZenDev will speak at the conference about the potentials of this sector in BiH.

Šantić is well-known for launching an IT company in Mostar, which works exclusively for the international market, focusing on Sweden, and is one of the bright examples of the BiH Diaspora's investment in the homeland. The 3rd Reconnect Conference is supported by the USAID Diaspora Invest Project.

“The Diaspora wants to invest in the ITES sector. We have a number of examples of ITES companies we cooperate with and support them. At tomorrow’s event at the City Hall in Sarajevo we will have the opportunity to discuss ways of even better connecting these companies, and how to work together to solve the problems and challenges that this sector faces in our country,” said Telalović, announced the Diaspora Invest Project.
