Šarović: A great success for BiH dairy industry

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 6 (FENA) - The European Commission today announced the decision to place Bosnia and Herzegovina on the list of A and B countries, which allows it to export all types of milk and dairy products to the EU, which is an enormous success for our dairy industry, said today Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović.

So far, Bosnia and Herzegovina has only exported heat-treated milk (the so-called column C), and from now on, dairies can also export milk with a lower degree of pasteurization, but also raw milk.

“As I have announced, the European Commission has approved the export of new categories of milk and this is one of the most positive news and decisions for the dairy and agricultural sector in BiH, which the ministry has worked on for a very long time.

We are one of the few countries outside the EU, which has met the conditions for export of all types of milk, which speaks about the progress of the entire system, but also of our dairy industry,” said Minister Šarović.

It is highly significant that this decision creates preconditions for the export of dairy products from BiH.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina has so far exported more pasteurized milk to the EU and CEFTA countries than it has imported, but the big deficit was recorded in the export of dairy products. Now we are opening a new chapter for our producers," said the minister.
