SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - High Representative Valentin Inzko expressed gratitude to friends and acquaintances for their kind words of condolence following the death of his mother, Marija Inzko, née Ziherl.
Ms. Marija Iznko passed away at the age of 94. She was buried on Sunday, 29 July, in the same village where her late husband - who passed away in 2002 - was born.
Ms. Inzko was born in Vodice near Ljubljana, where she completed her studies to become a teacher in 1944. In 1945 she fled with other refugees from communist Yugoslavia into Austria, where she worked in various refugee centers for the next three years. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Mr. Valentin Inzko, professor of Slavic languages and history. They had four children.
Marija Inzko made several visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first time in 1983. She will be remembered as an excellent teacher and an avid reader. She worked for the Austrian Radio for several years, published hundreds of articles and two novels. For her achievements as a teacher, the Austrian Education Ministry awarded her the honorary title of Professor. She was also engaged in her local church.
Ms. Inzko has left behind 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, stated the OHR.
