BiH signs two loan agreements with Saudi Development Fund (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, July 25 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vjekoslav Bevanda and Deputy President of the Saudi Development Fund Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam signed today loan agreements in Sarajevo worth 45.7 million KM for rehabilitation and equipping projects in Mostar and Konjic, as well as several projects in Sarajevo’s municipality of Stari Grad.

Minister Bevanda said that the two loan agreements were signed. The first one is for the construction and renovation of hospitals in BiH, whose total value is 32.4 million KM, and consists of three components.

The first one is for the Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Safet Mujić" in the amount of 9.7 million KM and includes renovation of the old building, physical therapy department building construction, also departments for palliative care, microbiological laboratory, roof repair in intensive care unit and parking space, as well as procurement of medical and non-medical equipment.

The second component is the hospital in Konjic, with the loan amount of 3.2 million KM. The funds will be used for reconstruction of laboratories, kitchens, pharmacies, laundry rooms and the construction of an additional floor for accommodation of 30 beds for the department of neurology and pediatrics, and the purchase of medical and other necessary equipment, ambulances, computer and medical equipment, etc.

The third component refers to the University Hospital Mostar for which the amount of 19.4 million KM will be allocated, and includes the construction of a pediatric clinic. The goal is to build the facility and to ensure quality working conditions.

“The total amount is 32.4 million KM and the loan terms are - repayment period of 25 years, including five years grace period. The interest rate is fixed at two percent a year,” said Bevanda.

The second agreement is the Loan Agreement for the Development of Infrastructure in the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.

Bevanda pointed out that this is one of the examples that when the initiatives that come from the local level that are well thought of and meet all the criteria, get to be implemented through negotiations.

The total value of the project is 13.3 million KM, and it consists of several components - the construction and renovation of parking and general purpose spaces, the construction of a sports hall in the elementary school "Edhem Mulabdić", renovation of the Stari Grad municipality building and completion of the construction and equipping of the municipal healthcare center.

Deputy President of the Saudi Fund for Development, Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam, pointed out the exceptional and close relations that link the two friendly governments and countries.

“I am pleased to be able to attend the signing of these two very important agreements in the amount of almost 46 million KM. With the signing of these two agreements, the Saudi Fund for Development so far has invested 307 million KM in total for various and extremely important development projects in BiH,” said Al-Bassam.

He added that the Saudi Development Fund is committed to continue this cooperation and continue to fund development projects in BiH in the future.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to BiH, Hani bin Abdullah Mominah, said that the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and BiH are solid and historically founded.

“The agreements we signed in the past years, as well as these agreements signed today, are just another proof of the strength of these ties,” said Ambassador Mominah.
