Kasumović: City of Zenica will contest the verdict and turn to Strasbourg Court

ZENICA, July 20 (FENA) - Mayor of Zenica, Fuad Kasumović, said today at a press conference that the city would comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court of FBiH, which proclaimed unconstitutional the Decision on Amendments to the Decree on Municipal Taxes of the City of Zenica, adopted on December 29, 2016.

The appeal was submitted by Prime Minister of ZDC Miralem Galijašević, upon the request of several councilors of the City Council of Zenica.

Since then, the City of Zenica, said Kasumović, has requested for the betting and gambling shops to pay more than seven million KMof municipal tax on the betting industry, and has announced that he they will continue to fight for the decision of the local government and file a law suit before the European Court in Strasbourg to dispute the court decision.

“This is one of the few, not to say the only verdict, which was made by outvoting with 4 against 3 judges” said Kasumović.

He claims that some of the members of the Constitutional Court of FBiH were against such a decision and he considers it to be highly politically influenced.
