ZENICA, July 19 (FENA) - The EU Delegation to BiH and the Directorate for European Integration of BiH, headed by the Head of the Political and Economic Department of the EU Delegation to BiH, Jan Snaidauf, today paid a working visit to the Government and the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
“We as a cantonal government are aware of the EU Accession Treaty. We have taken the responsibility to harmonize the legislation with the EU, and today we talked about the capacities, both organizational and personnel wise, and the ability to respond to these questions.
We have been rated as successful in our work so far. We believe that there is a need for institutional strengthening, through the Office of the Coordinator at the Government of ZDC, as well as all the employees.
Of course, we will use this coordination with all the other cantons, and we are creating the conditions to respond to these very important questions in the best possible way,” said Prime Minister of ZDC Miralem Galijašević.
ZDC is the eighth canton visited by the EU Delegation. Snaidauf assessed that ZDC has successfully responded to the process so far, but that it is essential that the canton is ready "for the European integration process itself when it enters full momentum".
“As it is in the process of the accession negotiations that we hope will follow, the same is with the process of harmonization of legislation, where the important role belongs to the cantons. Given the competences they have, as well as shared competences with the FBiH, and the exclusive competencies at the cantonal level, we are here to provide support to complete this process in the best possible way,” Snaidauf said.
