SARAJEVO, July 6 (FENA) - Chief of Joint Staff of Armed Forces of BiH Lieutenant General Senad Mašović and his associates met with Commander of the European Union Command Element (EUCE) Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano.
General Mašović informed him about current situation, future activities and operations of BiH AF in the country and abroad, with emphasis on activities and participation of members of BiH AF in UN and EU missions and peace support operations in Afghanistan.
General Mašović said that progress on EU and NATO path is very important for all citizens of BiH, but also for enhancement of regional cooperation, which is an area where BiH AF gives significant contribution.
General Mašović used this opportunity to emphasize importance of accelerated activation of the Membership Action Plan (MAP) in NATO, which leads to further progress of the state of BiH, but also to a more successful modernization process and enhancement of capacity of armed forces of our country.
General Luciano Portolano commended engagement of members of BiH AF in peace support operations, stressing their significant contribution to building of peace and collective security in the world. He congratulated BiH AF for results they have achieved.
He emphasized that EUCE will provide the necessary assistance to Armed Forces of BiH and support to BiH on its EU path and to acceleration of activation of MAP, PR Office of Ministry of Defense of BiH stated.
