SARAJEVO, July 1 (FENA) - Denying a language is equal to denying existence of people of a country and its spiritual and cultural heritage shaped based on mother tongue; denying Bosnian language is denying right to life to the state of BiH, right to national dignity, right to a more peaceful future, stated candidate of Social Democratic Party of BiH for member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović.
He emphasized it is a sovereign right of every people to call their language by its historic name and it is an obligation of democratic forces in BiH to insist on achieving the highest level of protection of internationally recognized human rights and basic freedoms, which include the right to education and mother tongue, SDP BiH said in a press release.
He warned that the ruling structures in RS should keep in mind that denial of Bosnian language is against the constitution and democracy “because neither that government nor anyone else has the right to decide on basic freedoms and rights of citizens of BiH”.
