SARAJEVO, June 25 (FENA) - This-year’s elections in the Republic of Turkey were held in a fair and democratic atmosphere and there was a record turnout of 90 percent, Ambassador of Turkey to BiH Haldun Koç told FENA and Anadolu agencies.
Preliminary results show that incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who won 52.6 percent of votes, will continue leading Turkey for another mandate.
Ambassador added that the elections were held in a democratic and transparent atmosphere.
“Sixty percent of voters voted in the Embassy of Turkey in Sarajevo, which is also a record,” said Ambassador Koç.
Ambassador finds that high turnout is an indicator of democracy of Turkey and that citizens know that their future is in their hands and they want to give contribution to their own future.
He believes that political stability also guarantees economic development and that Turkish policy towards BiH will not change.
He reminded that during his visit to Sarajevo, Erdoğan emphasized what kind of relations Turkey wants with Balkan states, especially with BiH and these results should contribute to stability of mutual relations even more, but he added that relations between countries are stable and trade exchange keeps increasing.
“We have no other intentions but for BiH to be a stable and prosperous country and we will continue supporting it in that sense,” concluded Ambassador of Turkey to BiH Haldun Koç.
