Mektić and Cormack discuss migrant issues, human trafficking and arms control

SARAJEVO, June 21 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić met today in Sarajevo with the US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack with whom he discussed the ongoing situation in the area of migration, trafficking and arms control.

Ambassador Cormack informed the minister that an annual report on the situation in the field of trafficking in human beings will be published soon, and pointed out that there is considerable concern about the lack of criminal prosecution, especially in the case of persons who force children into begging on the streets.

Mektić expressed his dissatisfaction with the prosecution's effectiveness in conducting investigations and its efficiency in prosecuting traffickers.

During the meeting, Mektić also announced his visit to the United States next week, where he will hold a series of meetings with officials of the US Government, the FBI and the National Security of the United States, announced the BiH Ministry of Security.
