SARAJEVO, June 20 (FENA) - "Driving 100 kilometers for 1 KM" is a motto of the company "Porsche BH", which has presented its two models of electric vehicles at this year's fair of energy, mining, environmental protection and the accompanying industry "Energa Fair 2018” that is taking place in Sarajevo.

The two electric car models, "Up" and "Golf 7" are fully electric vehicles, and are at disposal for the visitors of the fair,” said the VW E-mobility Project Manager Jasmin Lučkin in a statement to FENA, adding that these types of vehicles are expected to become popular in BiH as of 2020.

“The VW Group announced that it is preparing a revolution, and that it will launch vehicles that are fully developed on the new electric platform offering enhanced performances,” said Lučkin.

Lučkin explained that the distance range of such vehicles will be up to 500 kilometers, and that in terms of their price they will cost as much as today’s vehicles with diesel engines. He announces that a larger number of such electric car models will arrive in BiH, and that the country should be prepared for the changes to come.

He emphasizes that a lot of work should be done in terms of logistics and opening of a number of filling stations, promoting the benefits of electric cars and educating the population.

“Electricity as a fuel is much more cost effective than fossil fuels. With this kind of vehicle, you can drive a distance of 100 kilometers for 1 KM while with diesel engines, at current prices, you would need ten KM worth of fuel for the same distance,” said Lučkin, adding that servicing of such a vehicle is much cheaper than a vehicle with internal combustion engine.

He believes that the legislative framework is still one of the biggest obstacles on the BiH market, and that after this is resolved, popularity of electric cars will grow exponentially.

“As it was the case in previous years, we are again present at Energa Fair. We brought two electric car models and we are at disposal to all the visitors to answer all their questions,” added Lučkin.

The International Fair of Energy, Mining, Environmental Protection and the Accompanying Industry "Energa 2018", in its 8th edition, opened yesterday in Sarajevo, with participation of over 100 exhibitors from 11 countries. The fair closes on 21 June.
