Government of Japan donates ambulance vehicle to Sanski Most Healthcare Center

SARAJEVO, June 20 (FENA) - Handover ceremony for health care project, supported by the Japanese government will take place on 21 June 2018, at the Sanski Most Healthcare Center.

Under the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP)” scheme, the Government of Japan granted 30,955EUR (approx. 60,500 KM) to the project for equipping Sanski Most Healthcare Center (HCC) with an ambulance vehicle.

The project provides one ambulance to this HCC for improving health care environment in this municipality.

Before the completion of this project, the HCC was faced with a problem that one ambulance which the HCC owned was destroyed by an accident, and another one which was provided by the Government of Japan in 2006 became deteriorated and broke down sometimes.

Over 6,500 patients who need transportation service by ambulance in this Municipality would be the direct beneficiaries by this project. Mr. Hideyuki Sakamoto, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, will attend the handover ceremony scheduled for 21 June 2018, at the Healthcare Center Sanski Most.

Under the GAGP scheme, Japan’s assistance to BiH has reached over 18 million Euro or approximately 35 million KM during the past 20 years, covering vital sectors such as primary health care, education, demining.

The Government of Japan attaches great importance to improvement of medical environment in the country and has granted approximately 82 million EUR (app. 164 million KM) for construction, reconstruction and equipping of over 150 health care institutions like hospitals or health care centers across the country since 1996 through GAGP and General Grant Aid, stated the Embassy of Japan in BiH.
