SARAJEVO, June 13 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović said today that there is a possibility that the entity governments, at the proposal of the departmental ministries, limit the price of petrol and petroleum products.
“Taking into account these recent announcements in the past two days, we see that it is possible. For how much, I do not know, but I think that this is a good start,” Šarović told reporters in Sarajevo.
He reminded that all fuel taxes and margins are charged at the entity level, adding that he was ready to provide his own contribution within his jurisdiction.
“If someone thinks that it is necessary to involve the Council of Ministers or the Ministry of which I am in charge, I will very much like to participate in it, to give my contribution within the competencies I have,” said Šarović.
Asked whether there are oil cartels and associations that agree on the price of fuel and the margin cost, Šarović said that this is a serious issue and a matter for inspection bodies.
“What is most problematic is that whenever we have increase in the price of fuel, we have agreements made within the oil sector and their representatives on the price of fuel, which suggests that there is some sort of agreement. Whether it is within the law, I think that this should be investigated,” added Šarović.
