Reaction and appeal filed by BH Consortium of producers of police equipment

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 13 (FENA) - BH Consortium of producers of police and military equipment, which includes MEN d.o.o. Travnik, Koteks d.o.o. Tešanj, ZENKO d.o.o. Zenica, Textile Industry d.o.o. Mostar, Uslužnost d.o.o. Sarajevo, Sparta d.o.o. Banja Luka, Miltex d.o.o Banja Luka, K.L.M. Prnjavor and Belt d.o.o. Banja Luka, launched activities to file lawsuit for "violation of the Constitution and laws by Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo (SC MoI)".

"Ministry of Interior of SC adopted a Rulebook on uniform for special geographic conditions of SC MoI in 2013, which regulates appearance of all kinds of uniforms, not only parts and special uniforms, as regulated by the Federation Regulation on a single police uniform. At the same time, appearance of uniforms regulated by this rulebook is completely different than the appearance regulated by the Regulation!? So in practice police officers in SC have completely different uniforms than police officers in other cantons, which is against the Constitution of FBiH," BH Consortium of producers of police and military equipment stated in a press release.

Consortium also reminded they filed a plea to President and vice presidents of FBiH, Prime Minister and deputy prime ministers of FBiH to secure constitutional-legal protection before the Constitutional Court of FBiH regarding this case.

"Even though the Cantonal Minister of Interior referred to provisions of the Federation Regulation, it is clear this violates the Constitution of FBiH, but also the Federation Regulation, because legal possibility of regulating special, specialized types and parts of police equipment is abused in favor of certain import brands.

That causes great damage to our companies. We would like to note that we have been specializing for this kind of work for over 20 years. Uniforms and other equipment produced in BiH is used by police agencies of numerous European states. We will continue fighting against these actions by individuals in institutions, and we urge investigative bodies to get involved in the story," it was stated in the press release.
