SARAJEVO, June 12 (FENA) - Global goals of the UN such as eradication of poverty, environmental protection, securing peace and prosperity, were presented to representatives of BiH private companies at a conference organized by UNDP in Sarajevo today.
Resident Coordinator of the UN in BiH Sezin Sinanoglu stated those aims are not only good for people and the environment but also for business, because many private companies across the world introduced principles of those goals in their business activities and they have better results than their competitors.
"Our intention with this conference is to create a platform which will enable private sector to work on achieving goals of sustainable development together with authorities and other actors," said Sinanoglu.
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović emphasized that BiH is part of the UN Sustainable Development Plan and it began implementation of many goals it includes.
He noted the essence of implementation of those goals is responsible action by authority on all levels, but also smart management of resources at BiH's disposal.
Director General for International Development Cooperation at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Johannes Oljelund emphasized his country is very engaged in providing support to activities regarding the UN Sustainable Development Plan.
It was emphasized at the conference that 193 countries signed a binding agreement "UN Sustainable Development Plan by 2030" three years ago for eradication of poverty, environmental protection and securing peace and prosperity for everyone.
Conference was organized within project "Support of Preparation for Implementation of Goals of Sustainable Development and Engagement of Private Sector" financed by Embassy of Sweden to BiH and implemented by the UN team in BiH.
